Quality in Careers Standard Award
The Prospect Trust Careers Services Department holds the Quality in Careers Standard Award for The Sixth Form College, Farnborough. The College in its commitment to provide excellent Careers Education Information, Advice and Guidance to all its students has held this award for a number of years and has recently been reassessed as meeting all the standards. The assessor Sue Whittaker said:
There are many areas of excellent practice at the College, including:
• Strong Senior Management and Governor support and a whole college approach to CEIAG.
• An experienced and committed Head of CEIAG, who is herself a fully qualified careers adviser, and who leads a team of other careers advisers to provide a comprehensive careers guidance programme. She and her team work closely with other members of staff to raise the profile of careers across the College and provide support as required.
• The Prospects Diploma, through which students can work towards bronze, silver and gold levels and includes the careers education programme and access to careers and labour market information. A well-organised work experience programme for all students and work-related learning events that are built into the annual College calendar (e.g. the Moving On Day and the TEA Fair).
The Sixth Form College Farnborough is fully meeting the Quality in Careers Standard, through Investor in Careers and everyone involved in the CEIAG
programme should feel proud of the contribution they have made to its success. February 2022
What is the Quality in Careers Standard Award, and why should we have it?
Successful achievement of the award demonstrates we are providing excellent careers education, information, advice and guidance for all our students. It demonstrates how the College is meeting its duty in ensuring all students are well-prepared for the next stage of their plans, whether its education, training and /or employment. It will raise standards required in delivering excellent Careers Education, Information Advice and Guidance across the College and within all curriculum areas. The award focuses on provision of high quality careers education and the delivery of careers focused information advice and Guidance underpinned by the Gatsby Benchmarks and the Career Development Institute. Achievement of the award places high value on work related learning and development of employability skills required to ensure our students are ready to enter the world of work as part of their progression plans.
We will now be supporting Tomlinscote School with their quest to hold the award and moving forward we will be working with our Primary School, Frimley Church of England to achieve the same.
